Portugal North Coast - Montemor-Velho Castle

You can see from here that Montemor-Velho castle occupies the perfect position with commanding views all around the surrounding countryside. Since the Arabs first settled here during the 8th century, the Mondego lands have seen intense fights between Muslims and Christians with the castle changing hands, being destroyed and rebuilt over centuries.
